My name is Nicolene du Preez, I am married to an exceptional man Dirk du Preez and we have two extraordinary boys, Kentridge – seven and Caydon – three. My top two children authors are Dr Seuss and Eric Carle and I absolutely love children’s literature. I am the reception year teacher at the Intercultural School of Bogor. I have a passion for teaching and training. As a creative individual in education my goal is to inspire and educate other individuals and to help them to flourish. Teaching various reception year learners has taught me the value of being a good risk taker, open minded, creative and flexible in my thinking. To me there is no greater gift than to be allowed by learners into their world of learning. I feel privileged to be a teacher and I am excited to construct new knowledge with each individual I meet. Currently one of my favourite quotes about education leads as follow: “Must we always teach our children with books? Let them look at the mountains and the stars up above. Let them look at the beauty of the waters and the trees and flowers on earth. They will then begin to think, and to think is the beginning of real education.”- David Polis -. As a mother and a teacher I hope that I can inspire children to think and make a small yet crucial impact on education.

Inspired by the short film, ‘Caine’s Arcade,’ the Global Cardboard Challenge is an annual event presented by the Imagination Foundation that celebrates child creativity and the role communities can play in fostering it. This September, kids of all ages are invited to build anything they can dream up using cardboard, recycled materials and imagination. Then on Saturday, October 1st, 2016, a day that commemorates the flash mob that made Caine's day in the short film, communities come together and play!
