Event Description

Banjo’s STEAM Arcade will launch STEAM programs across our Junior School (Prep to Year 6). During National Science week students from Prep to Year 12 will research arcade style games then plan and design their own arcade game made from mainly recycled materials. I am in the process of contacting local gaming businesses to visit our College and speak to students about their design. This project is an authentic, hands on investigation which allows our entire school community to connect the science learning and understanding of the classroom with real world experiences. Each year level will have a specific arcade design challenge that is aligns to the science and technology curriculum covered in term 3. For example: Year 4 classes will investigate the push and pull forces in pin ball machines and magnets because their science unit concentrations on forces. Throughout this process, students will utilise engineering, arts and maths skills as they work collaboratively to plan, design, evaluate and play their arcade games.
