How do you imagine our World? What would you add to it? A solar powered, glow in the dark suspension bridge on your favorite trail, an inclusive playground for your next door neighbor, your dream school way up in the sky, a plastic-free zone in the ocean, something nobody has invented, but you? Calling children of all ages (and their caregivers) who would like to imagine, create, innovate and have fun in this community event. Let’s take on the challenge of building our World together, with cardboard, other recycled/reused materials, a few non-recycled supplies (glue, tape, staples, markers), and our imagination. Please save your cardboard boxes of different sizes, paper rolls, magazines, egg cartons, any other cardboard/paper; and any other reusable treasures that could be helpful to create the world we imagine (fabric, strings, old CDs, plastic lids, cork, bubble wrap, rubber bands, used crayons, etc.). Please bring those to the event, the more supplies the better. Please register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-world-i-imagine-cardboard-challenge-tickets-50475400281 and stay as long as you’d like. Small donations ($5-$10 per family) will be appreciated to cover event costs (room, supplies, refreshments). There will be some light refreshments.
*Inspired by the short film, ‘Caine’s Arcade’ (https://cardboardchallenge.com/), the Global Cardboard Challenge is an annual event presented by the Imagination Foundation (www.imagination.org) to celebrate child creativity and the role communities can play in fostering it. October 6, 2018 is Imagination’s Day of Play, with participants around the globe.
